Activate and Set Up Your Phone

What is a Mobile Hotspot and how can I use it?

A Mobile Hotspot turns your smartphone or device into a portable internet source, allowing other devices, like laptops or tablets, to connect to the internet. It's a great way to stay connected when you’re on the go and don’t have access to Wi-Fi.

When you use your Assurance Wireless phone as a hotspot, the data you use will count toward your monthly allotment.

How to Turn On Your Mobile Hotspot

Follow these steps to set up and use your Mobile Hotspot with an Assurance Wireless device:

Step 1: Check Your Phone's Compatibility

Not all devices support Mobile Hotspots. To find your hotspot, open your device's settings and look for an option marked "Hotspot" or "Tethering". If you don’t see it, your phone may not support this feature.

Step 2: Enable Your Mobile Hotspot

  1. Go to your phone's Settings menu.
  2. Tap on "Hotspot" & "Tethering" (or a similar option depending on your phone).
  3. Select "Mobile Hotspot" and turn it on.
  4. If prompted, you may need to set up a network name (SSID) and password for security. Make sure to note these details for connecting other devices.

Step 3: Connect Your Other Devices

  1. Open the Wi-Fi settings on the device you want to connect, like a laptop or tablet.
  2. Look for your hotspot's SSID (network name) in the list of available Wi-Fi networks.
  3. Select your network and enter the password you created.
  4. Once connected, your other device will be able to access the internet.
