How Do I Switch My Lifeline Service to Another Phone?

Switching your Lifeline service to a new phone is simple. Follow the steps below to ensure a smooth transition to your new device.

Before Switching:

  • It’s a good idea to back up your data, so contacts, photos, etc. can be easily restored on your new phone.
  • Check to see if your phone is compatible with Assurance Wireless. Use our Phone Compatibility page to check.
    • If you purchased your phone through our online store, don’t worry, all phones are automatically compatible with the Assurance Wireless network.

Option 1: Do-it-yourself online

  1. Visit My Account.
  2. Log in using your phone number and PIN.
  3. Under “Your Phone” section, click on. Swap/Update Phone and enter your phone's IMEI.
  4. At the SIM Card prompt, select “SIM that came with my new phone” and click “SUBMIT.” The new SIM information will automatically populate. Click “SUBMIT” again.
  5. Congratulations—you may now begin using your new phone.

Option 2: Call Customer Care for assistance

  1. Have your IMEI and SIM Card number ready.
  2. Call the Customer Care team at 1-888-321-5880 from a different phone. They can walk you through the activation process.
