How do I use Scam blocking and other free add-ons to my service?
Assurance Wireless offers many service add-ons to our subscribers including numerous levels of scam protection. As an Assurance Wireless customer, you can log into your My Account Portal and select the scam protection you’d like added to your service for no additional cost and added peace of mind.
Setting Up Scam Protection
- Log into your My Account Portal
- Select “Manage Plan Add-Ons” from the Quick Actions menu
- Choose from scam protection tools to add to your plan including:
- Scam ID Block: Blocks calls and text from numbers that are associated with scams.
- Scam ID automatically displays "Scam Likely" and the number that is calling on suspected scam calls. Scam ID is automatically on your phone. You may turn it off by dialing #634#. If you want to turn Scam ID back on, simply dial #664#. If you want to check if Scam ID is on your phone, dial #787#.
- Scam Block automatically blocks all "Scam Likely" calls before they ever reach your phone, so you never even see them. You must turn on Scam Block by dialing #662#. To turn off Scam Block, simply dial #632#.
- Scam ID and Scam Block only work to identify likely illegal scam calls.
- Block ILD calls: Blocks your phone from making international calls. This can prevent unauthorized or accidental international calls which can be costly.
- Scam ID Opt Out: By default, your phone will alert you when an incoming call is suspected of being a spam call. Selecting this box turns this warning off.
- Block Data: Blocks your phone from using data; you will only be able to access the internet on wi-fi if you have this option selected.
- Block Voice: Blocks your phone from making and receiving voice calls.
- Block Message: Blocks your phone from sending and receiving text messages.
- Scam ID Block: Blocks calls and text from numbers that are associated with scams.
Protecting Against Scam Calls
We determine if a call is "Scam Likely" using network-level protection that looks at the number that is calling and the way the number is behaving on the network.
How to Report a Scam Call
If your phone blocks a call that isn't a scam, or if you need to report a scam call that makes it through, please click here. Corrections are made within 48 hours of a verified request.
