Activate and Set Up Your Phone

How do I reduce data consumption on my phone?

Freeing up space on your phone can help with phone performance and make room for you to store memories. Here are a few simple ways to reduce data on your phone.

Enable Data Saver Mode:

For Android:

  • Go to "Settings"
  • Select "Network & Internet"
  • You should see "Data Saver" and you can choose to toggle it "On"

For iPhone:

  • Go to "Settings"
  • Select "Cellular"
  • Next go to "Cellular Data Options"
  • Select "Low Data Mode"

Use Wi-Fi Whenever Possible

Connect to trusted Wi-Fi networks at home, work or public locations to save mobile data

Turn Off Auto-Play for Videos

Social media and streaming apps often auto-play videos. Disable this in apps like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube to reduce data consumption on your phone.

Restrict High-Data Apps

You can see which apps use the most data and choose to delete them to free up space on your phone.

For Android:

  • Go to "Settings"
  • Choose "Network & Internet"
  • Select "Data Usage"
  • Choose "App Data Usage" to see how much data each app is using

For iPhone:

  • Go to "Settings"
  • Choose "Cellular"
  • Scroll down to see how much data each app is using.

Download Content for Offline Use

Download music, videos and maps over Wi-Fi to use offline instead of streaming.

Turn Off Mobile Data When Not Needed

  • Go to your "Settings" menu
  • Toggle "off" mobile data when you aren’t using it.
