How do I reduce data consumption on my phone?
Freeing up space on your phone can help with phone performance and make room for you to store memories. Here are a few simple ways to reduce data on your phone.
Enable Data Saver Mode:
For Android:
- Go to "Settings"
- Select "Network & Internet"
- You should see "Data Saver" and you can choose to toggle it "On"
For iPhone:
- Go to "Settings"
- Select "Cellular"
- Next go to "Cellular Data Options"
- Select "Low Data Mode"
Use Wi-Fi Whenever Possible
Connect to trusted Wi-Fi networks at home, work or public locations to save mobile data
Turn Off Auto-Play for Videos
Social media and streaming apps often auto-play videos. Disable this in apps like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube to reduce data consumption on your phone.
Restrict High-Data Apps
You can see which apps use the most data and choose to delete them to free up space on your phone.
For Android:
- Go to "Settings"
- Choose "Network & Internet"
- Select "Data Usage"
- Choose "App Data Usage" to see how much data each app is using
For iPhone:
- Go to "Settings"
- Choose "Cellular"
- Scroll down to see how much data each app is using.
Download Content for Offline Use
Download music, videos and maps over Wi-Fi to use offline instead of streaming.
Turn Off Mobile Data When Not Needed
- Go to your "Settings" menu
- Toggle "off" mobile data when you aren’t using it.
