About Lifeline and Application
How Can I Keep My Lifeline Service Active?
In order to keep your Lifeline service active, you need to use your Assurance Wireless phone at least once every 30 days. You can do this by:
- Making a phone call
- Sending a text message
- Using your mobile data (going online when you’re not on Wi-Fi)
Understanding the guidelines
If you go 30 days without using your service, your service will be discontinued. If you do not place a call, send a text or go online using your mobile data within 15 days of receiving a notice, your service will be discontinued. You have the option to get your service back, but you will need to reapply.
These rules were created by the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) which manages the Lifeline program. They were not created by Assurance Wireless.
Useful info about "usage"
- You can use mobile data in many ways, including social media, using Google, going online, using maps, or streaming music or video. However, in order for these actions to count toward your 30-day usage, you must be off Wi-Fi
- Calls using "call forwarding" do not count as usage
