About Lifeline and Application

Can My Family Members Sign Up for Lifeline too?

Yes, as long as your family member lives in a different household and meets the other eligibility requirements, they may sign up for Lifeline. However, the Lifeline Assistance program is available for only one line per household.

Household eligibility rules

People who live together at the same address and share money are considered part of the same household. People who live together but do not share money or expenses are considered to belong to separate households.

Common examples of separate households at the same address include residents of homeless shelters, roommates and nursing homes.

Understanding household income

Household income includes all income received by everyone in your household, whether taxable or non-taxable, including, but not limited to, wages, salaries, interest, dividends, spousal support and child support, grants, gifts, allowances, stipends, public-assistance payments, social security and pensions, rental income, income from self-employment and cash payments from other sources and all employment-related, non-cash income.
